Love him or hate him as the husband of Meghan King Edmonds on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Jim Edmonds was an exceptional pro baseball player. Now, he's getting some major recognition as a new addition to the Baseball Writers' Association of America's 2016 Hall of Fame Ballot, which was announced Monday.
Jim began his career in MLB in 1993
for the then-California Angels (now known as the L.A. Angels). However,
he is most famous for his stint as an outfielder for the St. Louis
Cardinals from 2000 to 2007, where he won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award
six years in a row, was an All-Star three times, and helped the team win
the World Series in 2006. Jim would go on to play for a variety of
teams, including the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and Cinncinati Reds
before retiring from the game in 2010.
Of course, Meghan was super-excited for Jim's big news.
Jim will need to appear on 75 percent of ballots
cast by BBWAA members voting this year in order to be elected into the
Baseball Hall of Fame. The results will be announced on January 6, 2016
with the induction ceremony taking place in July in Cooperstown, New York. Here's hoping Jim knocks this one out of the park.
But what did Jim think of his rookie season on RHOC? Relive this moment from the OC reunion, below.
